Photocopy of portions of Delia Akeley's diaries. The diaries document objects that Akeley collected in the Mangbetu area of Africa. Several objects collected by Akeley were acquired by the Brooklyn Museum in 1931.

The origins of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences extend back to 1823, with the founding of the Brooklyn Apprentices' Library.
